Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle T-bone crash that closed Highway 97A south of Armstrong in both directions briefly Monday, March 15.
Two patients in their 70s were taken to hospital in stable condition while another, the 80-year-old driver, was airlifted in serious condition.
An eastbound SUV attempted a left-hand turn across Hwy. 97A around 3:20 p.m. and was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound pickup truck.
The Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department attended to help with the extraction of a trapped driver of the SUV.
“Due to the serious injuries of the trapped driver, BC Air Ambulance was requested,” Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media officer Cpl. Tania Finn said.
Three ambulances were dispatched and BC Emergency Health Services auto-launched its air ambulance from Kamloops.
Traffic was stopped in both directions to allow for the helicopter’s safe landing.
