Despite rising water levels in area river and lakes, Vanderhoof Emergency Coordinator and Fire Chief Joe Pacheco says there isn’t cause for concern in town.

Despite rising water levels in area river and lakes, Vanderhoof Emergency Coordinator and Fire Chief Joe Pacheco says there isn’t cause for concern in town.

During a conference call with Provincial Emergency Program Headquarters in Terrace on Thursday, Pacheco learnt that there are already signs of water levels dropping in the Houston area.

“We won’t see the effects of that for three to four days,” said Pacheco on Thursday.

“As long as we don’t get any heavy rainfall, which is not predicted at this time, things could be leveling off very nicely for us,” he said.

“We are closely watching our river levels for sure…but everything seems to be okay for now…our weather pattern now seems to be favorable for us,” he added.

One last word of advice…”Keep your feet dry.”
