A water main break on Halliwell Avenue saw some residents without water for a few hours on Oct. 4.

There had been an emergency water shut off for residents down blocks of Halliwell Avenue while crews repaired the damage. The shut-off affected the 4600-4900 blocks of Halliwell Avenue between Sparks Street and Munroe Street.

City public works crews were on-site and completed repairs around 5 p.m. last Friday.

A resident on Benner Street says the water was flowing earlier that day but she discovered it had been turned off around 3 p.m.

A crew member says breaks like this can happen. There had been some repair work on the sewer line along Halliwell Avenue earlier this week.

Traffic control flaggers were on site directing single lane traffic between Eby Street and Sparks Street where crews are doing the repairs.

Once the taps were turned back on, the city advised residents seeing cloudy water to run the taps for a few moments until the water runs clear, and the water remains safe to drink.
