An extreme weather alert for the Langleys was expected to remain in effect until the weekend, the Salvation Army Gateway of Hope shelter said.
During the current cold snap, Gateway will be offering extra spaces for homeless people to sleep.
In addition to the 32 beds usually available, the shelter has added 45 sleeping mats.
At 6 p.m., the doors at homeless shelter, at 5787 Langley Bypass, will open to provide an hour of “warming time” before intake begins at 7 p.m.
A Gateway staffer said it still has spaces available and hasn’t been forced to turn anyone away this week.
