Weather and traffic update: Fog expected to clear soon

A mix of fog, ice and slush greet Cariboo drivers today.

  • Jan. 4, 2019 12:00 a.m.

Fog hung over lakecity last night and greeted its residents once more this morning.

While not as thick as yesterday evening, the fog still makes visibility on the roads in and around Williams Lake limited as of this article. It is expected to clear, however, around noon.

Moving into the rest of the day the temperature should stay around 0 throughout a partially sunny day. There is a 40 per cent chance of seeing more rain and flurries like the city experienced yesterday.

Tonight Environment Canada forecasts a partially cloudy night with a low of -3 with a wind chill of five.

Tomorrow will see a similar high of 0 during a mainly cloudy day, with the wind chill of five holding. Sunday its expected to go down to -5 with a 70 per cent chance of flurries throughout the day.

Road conditions are still slippery and icy in places after yesterday’s snow and rain. Along Highway 20 there are reports of fog patches like the one in lakecity, slippery sections and black ice from Stack Valley Road to Highway 97. Compact snow is also making driving conditions treacherous across stretches of Highway 20 between Graham St. and Cotton Rd., Graham Lake Acess No.2 Road and Stum lake Rd.and between Olsen Dr and Sawmill Creek Rd.
