The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
• Aug. 23, 3:00 a.m., 6400 Block Wade Road: Complaintant reported that someone had forced the partly-open driver side window of their vehicle parked in the driveway. The complainant’s wallet containing personal and bank cards was stolen from the vehicle.
• Aug. 25, 1:30 p.m., 700 Block Chester Road: Complainant reported they were checking a pallet of new stereo equipment beside an open warehouse bay door and left for about a minute. When they returned two Yamaha RX-V379 receivers had been stolen.
• Aug. 25, 7:38 p.m., 11190 Block 84th Avenue: Complainant left their bicycle locked in front of a business and when they returned the bike was gone. The bicycle is valued at $200.
• Aug. 25, 1:00 a.m., 11500 Block 95A Avenue: Complainant indicated they had observed brake lights in the driveway and when they investigated, saw their vehicle drive away. The vehicle was locked. It is described as a 1997 Honda Accord. The vehicle has been entered in the police database.
• Aug. 26, 10:49 a.m., 11400 Block Pemberton Crescent: Complainant reported a locked vehicle had been broken into and a silver iPod Classic stolen. The passenger door was pried under the handle and the lock punched out in order to gain entry to the vehicle.
• Aug. 26, 8:56 a.m., 9200 Hardy Road: Complainant reported they left their locked van outside their residence and when they returned in the morning the vehicle was gone. The vehicle is described as a grey 1993 Mazda MPV. The vehicle has been entered in the police database.
• Aug. 26, 11:20 a.m., 10900 Block Norum Place: Complainant reported an attempt had been made to steal their green 1993 Corvette. Further investigation revealed that four of the complainant’s seven vehicles sustained minor damage in attempt to break into the vehicles.
• Aug. 27, 11:09 p.m., 9200 block 119A Street: Complainant reported a water pump had been stolen from a residence currently being renovated. The water pump had been left at the side of the house. The pump is described as a Mastercraft brand.
