The West Kelowna Residents’ Association wants to start a conversation about the issues currently facing West Kelowna residents.
The WKRA is hosting a first-of-its-kind town hall meeting Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Several local community groups and residents’ associations will be represented at the event, discussing issues that matter to them.
“What’s the vision? Who’s setting the agenda? We’re going to ask some of these questions and see what people’s take is on it,” said WKRA president Mike Trenn.
“We think that there is sufficient interest, so why not bring things out in public?”
Trenn said several topics will be discussed, including: Storm water management, bylaw enforcement, zoning, communication with mayor and council, infrastructure issues and the Official Community Plan.
“We are now approaching seven years of district governance, and we’ve had a variety of experiences to date, some good, some not so good.
“An open forum will help us in our quest to shape a strong and vibrant community: The goal of all the associations, really.”
Residents in attendance will have the opportunity to pose questions and express their concerns to the panel. Trenn noted the town hall meeting is open to all members of the community.
“We’re interested in what people think (at a grassroots level).”
Several members of District of West Kelowna council are also expected to attend and listen in on the topics being discussed.
“What we’re after is improving livability. If people have ideas about how they could do that…maybe those priorities can get addressed.”
The meeting will be held at the Super 8 Motel meeting room, 1655 Westgate Road, April 10 at 6:30 p.m.
