The sounds of Frank Sinatra and the big bands will kick off West Kelowna’s third season of Music in the Park.

The free summer concert series runs every Friday night from 6:45 to 9 p.m., July 4 to Aug. 29 at Memorial Park in Westbank Centre.

Every event will feature a talented kid, an opening performance and a headline act. There will also be a variety of genres featured throughout the summer.

Antony Knight is the first talented kid to perform this Friday at 6:45 p.m.

The headline act—a tribute to Sinatra and the big bands featuring Dreamland Band and guests—will take the stage at 7 p.m.

An average of 650 people attended each of the concerts last summer, according to Ryan Donn, creative director for Creative Okanagan.

“Cog Gone Wild! (brought out) 1,100 people—that was our biggest (concert) last year,” said Donn.

“They draw big crowds, so we pretty much book them every year…every other act is pretty much new.”

Food and drink vendor services will be available throughout the summer concert series. West Kelowna recreation staff will also be in the park to supervise games and activities for kids.
