West Kelowna's roads will receive a new coat of paint over the next two weeks. Motorists are warned they may experience delays while crews are working. (files)

Motorists in West Kelowna may experience some delays as the public works department has started its annual traffic line painting.

All lines that were painted in prior years are to be repainted and select pavement markings, including crosswalks, arrows and stop lines.

The City of West Kelowna’s public works department reminds motorists to not drive over freshly painted lines and to use care while passing by workers. Temporary traffic interruptions may be experience and people are reminded to obey work crews’ signage.

Public works expects the project should take about two weeks to complete, if weather is on the crews’ side.

The city is responsible for traffic signs and line markings on all roads within its boundaries, except for Highway 97, Highway 97C and Westside Road, which fall under the transportation ministry’s jurisdiction.
