A large diameter water main break between Helmcken and Burnside on the Trans Canada Highway wreaked havoc on the morning commute for West Shore residents on Friday.
The break of a water main nearly a metre in diameter happened late Thursday night and limited Friday traffic flow to a trickle.
The water main remained under repair until Saturday morning.
The water main serves Saanich, Victoria and Oak Bay. The CRD didn’t expect any service interruptions, but residents in Victoria West, Esquimalt and View Royal were told they may experience lower water pressure and some cloudiness in the water. In consultation with Island Health, the CRD confirmed that the water remained safe to drink.
