Wheelchair rugby is the name of the game at City Square on Sunday, June 11

The fun fundraiser that pits teams of wheelchair-bound players against each other is back.

That enthusiastic gang at Cowichan Wheels are back on Sunday, June 11 with their annual wheelchair rugby extravaganza.

It’s all happening at Duncan City Square starting at 10 a.m. so sign up and get ready for some fun competition.

A total of 16 teams will compete for the Duncan Lions Cup.

Music is by the McCandless Family Band, with food by Jake’s on the Road, and an ice cream truck. There will also be face painting.

There are two levels of sponsorship.

“Be the Team” offers the opportunity to play, while “Be the Chair” gives you the chance to sponsor a great event as organizers provide the bodies for the chairs.

Teams have a chance to win the cup, while playing in chairs that bear the team name during play. The cost to register is $300 per team.

Chair sponsors, who pay $500 to register, will also get signage at the event and a thank-you photo of their “team”.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. so, even if you aren’t involved, come down to City Square and watch the fun and help local people with disabilities.
