A small wildfire in the Mayo Lake area near the Cowichan River Provincial Park that was reported late on the afternoon of Aug. 16 was quickly dealt with by a local fire crew.
A spokeswoman for the BC Wildfire Service said the fire, suspected to be human-caused and estimated at 0.01 hectares, was attended by a local fire crew and members of the BC Wildfire Service at about 2 p.m. Thursday.
She said the local firefighters already had the fire under control and were putting out hot spots when the crew from the BC Wildfire Service arrived.
“It was a spot-sized fire that was quickly put out,” the spokeswoman said.
