In the wake of widespread devastation from wildfires across B.C. in 2018, a wildfire preparedness open house is set for Sept. 22 at the Ryder Lake Community Hall.
The event will feature static displays, demos, and some experts.

Answering questions will be reps from: FireSmart, BC Hydro, Insurance Bureau of Canada, Chilliwack Fire Department, the City of Chilliwack, as well as several local businesses.
“This is an open house style event with displays and demonstrations from different organizations sharing information about wildfire preparedness for your home and property,” according to info online posted by City of Chilliwack.

Topics will range from what to ask when applying for home insurance, to how exterior sprinkler systems work, as well as what “FireSmart” means and how to prepare.
