Authorities are looking for pictures and video of a reported incident of someone with a paramotor harassing animals on Qualicum Beach last Wednesday.
“We’re requesting the public’s help, there’s been a paraglider with a motorized paragliding outfit… disturbing the birds and geese on the beach,” said Conservation Officer Steve Ackles.
The incident took place Wednesday,
April 20 from the afternoon into the evening, he said and while they received reports and it sounded like there were a number of witnesses, Ackles said they would appreciate any photographic evidence.
“We’re just requesting any help from any members of the public who might have been down there, if there’s any photographs or video of him harassing the birds,” he said.
He said witnesses said the man appeared to be intentionally harassing the birds, which he hopes photos or video will help him sort out.
“I know there was a lot of people down there that day, and I’m sure if people were taking photos of the birds they would have photographed him disturbing them.”
Ackles described the man as having a large gas powered motor with a big blade on his back, called a paramotor.
Anyone with photos or video is asked to call the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line at 1-877-952-7277.
