A sharp trough over the Pacific Ocean will approach Haida Gwaii tonight then reach the mainland coast early Saturday.
Strong southeasterly winds will rise as the system approaches, reaching up to 90 km/h on Haida Gwaii and on exposed coastal sections of the North Coast mainland. Winds will peak tonight over Haida Gwaii and Saturday morning on the mainland.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
