Crews quickly put out a small fire in a rear exterior stairwell at the old MSA Centennial Library in Abbotsford on Monday morning.
Crews were dispatched just after 8:30 a.m. to the fire at 33660 South Fraser Way, just east of the Five Corners intersection in the old downtown core.
It’s believed the fire was started by someone who may have been camping out in the area, which is adjacent to Jubilee Park. Nobody was injured in the incident.
A fire investigator was called in.
The library was closed down in November 2012 and its contents moved to the new Abbotsford Community Library located at Abbotsford Senior Secondary.
The Abbotsford Downtown Business Association announced in June 2014 that it would move into the old library, but that move hasn’t yet taken place.
