Several bystanders gave the RCMP a helping hand Sunday morning, detaining the 19-year-old male driver of a car which struck three other vehicles near a busy Cedar Hills intersection.
An Acura was heading eastbound on 96 Avenue at 9:40 a.m. when witnesses say it struck a Subaru SUV in the left-turn lane at 128 Street.
Witnesses reported the suspect vehicle continued along 96 Avenue in the westbound lane, colliding with a pair of oncoming vehicles before it was disabled, coming to a stop on the median.
Police say a number of bystanders offered assistance, but the suspect reportedly drew a knife. He was detained by citizens for a short time until RCMP arrived. The suspect then tried to flee, police say, but was arrested.
Corey Wuertemberger is facing six charges, including two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of flight, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and obstruction of a peace officer.
