A driver stopped on Princess Avenue by drug section officers last week ended up being charged for drug trafficking.
Three charges of possession for purpose of trafficking were laid against Lisa Millar, 38 of Chilliwack, who had an outstanding warrant from last summer, say police.
The latest vehicle stop by RCMP was on Feb. 12 beside the courthouse.
Officers seized heroin, crystal meth, powder and crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $2,275. There was also an undisclosed amount of cash and other items seized as evidence.
The outstanding warrant related to the execution of a search warrant on Ashwell Road in July 2012, in which the subject was arrested for trafficking after a big cache of street drugs, prescription drugs and cash were found in the residence, across from Prospera Centre. She is awaiting trial for drug trafficking charges stemming from that incident.
“The trafficking of illicit drugs goes hand-in-hand with violent crimes associated with the drug trade, and property crimes committed to facilitate drug habits,” said Const. Bryan Martell of the Chilliwack Drug Section.
The Crime Reduction Unit is cracking down on drug-related crime and will be seizing all property related to this type of activity.
