Woman dies after suffering ‘medical event’ while driving north of Lac la Hache

Initial report was that an older female had driven into the side of a hill, was not responsive

A woman died behind the wheel early on April 24 just north of Lac la Hache, according to 100 Mile House RCMP.

Around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, RCMP officers and Central Cariboo Traffic Services attended a reported single motor vehicle incident near Begg Road along Highway 97.

The initial report was that an older female had driven into the side of a hill and was not responsive.

Several emergency crews, including BC Ambulance, the 100 Mile Fire Department and Lac La Hache Volunteer Fire Department also attended.

Through witness information at the scene, the RCMP said in a statement, it was determined this was a medical event.

The female driver was transported to 100 Mile Hospital for further treatment, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the woman’s family has been notified.
