The West Shore RCMP and BC Ambulance Service were able to revive a woman found unconscious in the middle of the road, thanks to the help of a bystander.
At approximately 1 a.m. on March 22, the West Shore RCMP responded to a call from a bystander who found an unconscious woman in the middle of Island Highway near Wilfert Road in View Royal.
Officers arrived to find the woman was suffering from a medical emergency and administered naloxone.

“Our officers believed the woman was suffering from an opiate overdose,” said Const. Nancy Saggar from the West Shore RCMP.
Officers called BC Ambulance Service and administered an additional dose of Narcan.
“The woman regained consciousness on scene and was transported to the hospital for further assessment,” Saggar noted.
Narcan nasal spray is issued to all RCMP officers and is used to counteract the effects of opioids.
