A police standoff ended without incident Saturday evening. Police surrounded a building in the 3200-block of Glasgow Ave. after a report came in at 3:45 p.m. about a woman thought to be at risk of harming herself.
Initial reports indicated the woman might have a firearm so officers evacuated residents of the building. A crisis negotiator along with detectives, a police dog and a traffic safety unit as well as an ambulance were at the scene.
The negotiator was able to reach the woman by telephone and, by 5:30 p.m., the 51-year-old Saanich resident agreed to leave the building and be taken into custody.
Officers from the region’s Emergency Response Team then searched the residence but did not find any firearms.
The woman was taken to hospital.
