A woman is safe in hospital after an intervention by VicPD officers on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place on the 1600-block of Gladstone Ave. at about 1:30 p.m., where police worked with crisis negotiators in an effort to help the woman, who was armed with a knife and in crisis.
Officers spoke to the woman, using crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to end the situation. Officers were able to convince the woman to put the knife down. She surrendered herself and was taken into custody without incident. She was not physically injured but was transported to hospital for assessment.
