The District of Sooke is putting a plug into the Rhodonite Drive and Eakin Drive drainage problem.

Council approved a $44,572 contract for Mainroad South Island Contracting LP to reconstruct the drainage system.

In an inspection of the area, municipal staff found the existing infrastructure was undersized, poorly constructed and “barely functional” in some places.

The Rhodonite-Eakin re-construction is one of three major drainage replacement projects scheduled for this year. The others include Atherly Close and Sooke River Road.
