A Shaw cable worker had a tough day on the job after a pit bull trapped him up a pole for 45 minutes.Ladysmith Fire Rescue and RCMP were called to the scene at Westdowne Road and South Watts Road on Wednesday, April 13 at 4:20 p.m.“The worker was up a power pole and the pit bull wandered into the area and was barking at him,” Staff Sgt. Roger Plamondon explained. “It wouldn’t let him come down.”The pit bull was on its owner’s property.“I think it kind of freaked him out,” said Fire Chief Ray Delcourt.Delcourt said when fire rescue showed up the dog ran away.“We’ve never had to do that before,” Delcourt said. “We’ve had to rescue cats up trees, but never a guy on top of a pole.”Delcourt said he wanted to remind people to detain their dogs somewhere safe when workers come on to their property.All was well in the end and the man was brought down safely.“The dog ended up being friendly,” Delcourt said.
