Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) was tasked by Elk Valley RCMP around midnight Sunday to locate two missing individuals; a young man and his 81-year-old grandmother.
According to a post by Fernie SAR on social media, the pair had left Fernie around midday to look for and recover a vehicle that had run out of gas out towards the Flathead, on an aborted hunting trip the previous day.
Both Fernie SAR and Sparwood SAR searched backcountry roads, along with friends and family members, based on the itinerary of the hunting trip. The pair were located safe and sound around 3 a.m.
