Good morning! It was a mainly sunny start to the day at 14 C as of 7 a.m., and the Environment Canada weather service tells us we’ve got 65 per cent humidity and 8 km/h winds from the north-northeast.

Today and tomorrow, expect temperatures to rise to 28 C and drop to 13 overnight with clear skies throughout. If temperatures reach that high, it will clear Environment Canada’s highest recorded temperature for May 9 by 1.3 C and the May 10 record by 2.7 C. On both days, it would clear the seasonal averages by close to 11 C.

The UV index is rated at 7 or high today, so wear sunscreen if you’re outside a lot today.

After that, as the heat simmers closer to the mid-20s over the weekend, no temperature records will be broken, but we’ll keep the clear skies through to Monday, with a high of 20 C. That night, expect cloudy periods with a low of 8 C, followed by a mix of sun and cloud Tuesday with a high of 22 C and a low of 8 C, and finally a cloudy Wednesday with a high of 20 C.

Currently, visibility is 48 kilometres.

On clear roads and driving at the speed limit, a drive from the Abbotsford News building to Downtown Vancouver would take 50 minutes.

Today, your daily commute time as of 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 is one hour 31 minutes, with plenty of mild and moderate congestion through Langley, as well as through between Sumas Way and Clearbrook Road on Highway 1 and past the Port Mann Bridge.
