Clear skies getting cloudier and major congestion on Highway 1 with some detours

  • Nov. 20, 2018 12:00 a.m.

Good morning! It was a clear but chilly start to the day at 1 C as of 7 a.m., and the Environment Canada weather service tells us we’ve got 96 per cent humidity and 10 km/h winds from the north-northeast.

But don’t expect those clear skies to hang around – we’re looking at a mix of sun and cloud today at a high of 9 C and a mainly cloudy night with a low of 4 C. Following that, Environment Canada forecasts rain from Wednesday to Saturday, with highs dropping from 9 C to 6 C and lows from 6 C to 4 C over the course of that time.

Currently, visibility is 48 kilometres.

On clear roads and driving at the speed limit, a drive from the Abbotsford News building to Downtown Vancouver would take 50 minutes.

Today, your daily commute time as of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 is one hour 35 minutes, and Google Maps suggests the quickest route, to bypass a major traffic stall between Abbotsford and Langley on Highway 1, is to merge onto the highway at 56 Ave.

We’re also looking at heavy congestion in Surrey and past the Port Mann bridge on Highway 1.
