It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy Jean Metcalfe (nee Gordon) on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the age of 85.
Jean was born October 24, 1938, in Claresholm Alberta to Charles and Lilian Gordon. Jean was the 5th of 5 children. Jean spent her childhood in Claresholm, a small farming community and an airforce training center for pilots during WW2. She later moved out to Vancouver in the late 1950’s where she met and married Ken Metcalfe in 1964, they made Burnaby home and had their only child Grant in January 1966. In 1973 the family moved out to Chilliwack and made it their home where they would spend the rest of their lives.
Jean loved camping, trips to Mexico and the Arizona desert, gardening, knitting, reading, and watching her two grandchildren excel at their sporting activities.
Jean is survived by her son Grant (Laura), grandchildren Madison and Mitchell, sisters Mae Gibson, Joyce May, and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her parents Charles and Lilian, husband Ken, brother Charles, and sister Isobel.
