Dorothy May Johnson

November 7, 1929 – November 11, 2023
In loving memory ~
We are saddened to inform you that Dorothy (“Dot”) Johnson passed away peacefully on November 11th.
Dot was born on November 7th, 1929 to Bill and Ethel Bellamy in a neighbour’s farmhouse adjacent to her family’s farm, near Viscount, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (“Dick”); brothers Stan, Art, Bob & Ernie; sisters Ada, Margaret, Bernice, Edna, Iris & Jean and all brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.
The Bellamy family moved to Chilliwack in 1940 (can you imagine the logistics of that move?!). She married Dick Johnson in 1948 and moved into the Trail, BC area. In 1968, the Johnson family moved back to Chilliwack where Dick (“Fred”) & Dot operated Johnson’s Corner Store in Sardis. Dick & Dot were blessed with 48 years of marriage until Dick’s passing in 1996. Dot was always active with gardening, baking, volunteering, walking and enjoying her Sardis home with family & friends. She is survived by her 4 boys, Wayne (Vicky), Don (Vikki), Bill (Marilyn) & Russ (Joanne) (all shining examples of outstanding sons!); 12 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren; and many, many nephews & nieces, all of whom she was committed to and couldn’t be more proud of. All of her “kids” will truly miss her love & caring (and the endless supply of cookies!).
Dot was at peace with her passing and comforted immensely, knowing that she would rejoin Dick “on the other side”.
A celebration of life service will be determined and announced at a later date.
A Personal Tribute page has been set up at www.hendersonsfunerals.com for those who wish to pay their respects.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Leading to happy memories that I leave when life is done.
