In Loving Memory (1933-2023) ~
Frank Lloyd Pennimpede passed away peacefully Nov 21, 2023 at the age of 90 with his wife Herma at his side.
He is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Herma; first wife, Joan; sons Paul (Chrisanne), Joe (Irene), daughter Sue (Rick); sister-in-law, BeeGee; brother-in-law, Ron; 3 nieces; grandchildren, Joy (Dan), Christopher (Bayoush), Mitch, Bryan, Michael (Sonia), Matthew (Morgan); 6 great grandchildren; and his long time friend and co-conspirator, Doug Sharkey. He is predeceased by his sister, Noni, brother Bob, and son, Tom.
Frank was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Armed Forces, got married, and started a family. On retiring from the Forces in 1974 he moved the family to Port Hardy, soon getting his ‘dream job’ with BC Tel (Telus).
Port Hardy provided the perfect lifestyle for Frank, allowing him to pursue his dream of sailing. It was through boating with friends that he met his second wife, Herma. Frank spent many years sailing ‘Harpy’ all over the BC coast and eventually to Mexico and back.
After retirement from Telus, he and Herma made an extended trip across Canada, the USA and to Mexico in their fifth wheel. His last move was to Nanaimo in 2011, to be closer to medical care and family.
Frank had a love for life and the outdoors. He was happiest when he was sailing, hunting, fishing, camping, crabbing, exploring, hanging with his dogs, but best of all, was sharing his experiences with family and friends. He will be missed but never forgotten.
As per Frank’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered in a private Celebration of Life in Blunden Harbour when the weather permits.
