Jean was born on April 29,1927 in LeRoy, Saskatchewan and passed away December 7, 2023 in Trail, BC.
She was predeceased by her husband Stuart Gordon Smith, brother George Swanson, sisters-in-law Vivian and Bernie, sister Lorna Ciriani, brother-in-law John Ciriani, brother-in-law Wally Russell, sister-in-law Vada Scott, brothers-in-law, Verne Smith, Roy Smith, niece, Jean Ciriani, nephews, Braden Draper, Chad Russell, Warren Scott, and great-nephew Tevan Draper.
Jean is survived by her most devoted and caring daughter Eleanor and son-in-law Wayne White, grandson Cameron (Megan) White, granddaughter Adrienne (Mike) Laing and 3 great-grandsons Logan, Elliot and Avery, sisters Norma Russell and Phyllis (Barclay) Draper, sister-in-law, Edith Smith and loving nieces and nephews and their families.
The Swanson family moved to Fruitvale, BC in 1940, settling at Bluebird corner, until moving to Trail, BC in September 1947.
Jean attended Trail Business College and went on to her working careers at the Trail Tadanac Hospital, Consolidated Mining & Smelting Co., Waneta Dam, retiring from C.S. Williams Clinic after an enjoyable 32 years, where she made many friends.
Jean’s greatest enjoyment was her family and time spent with the large circle of relatives and friends she made along life’s journey. She especially enjoyed the afternoons and evenings playing cards before her sight and hearing made these pleasures too difficult.
Jean requested that there be no funeral. Her ashes will be placed at the Fruitvale Cemetery sometime in the spring. Gwen Ziprick of Clark’s Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s name may be made to a local charity of your choice.
