Editor: As a small farmer, I would like to address the recent outbreak of the avian flu. It would be devastating for not only me, but many other small farmers and chicken enthusiasts if this is not contained. All chicken keepers need to work at not spreading the virus.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency needs to stop the sale of birds at The Fraser Valley Auction. The last big cull in 2004 was a major hit to commercial, heritage and hobby birds. I work hard with my birds and have many that are endangered or on watch list for becoming endangered. The last thing I want to see is another cull like the last one.
