A proposed solution to derelict buildings, downtown

During every public town meeting, a handful of derelict buildings downtown are always mentioned. People hate these eye-sores, and would like to see something done with them.

All the while, council is looking at revitalization tax exemptions (see Page 6) and other things to encourage the development of the sites.

Another solution may be to call them on technicalities, until they’re so frustrated they move away, finally selling their properties to someone interested in doing something at the site.

Technically, they can be charged $50 per day that they don’t shovel the sidewalk in front of their building (see Page 2). What other devious technicalities can be found?
