A rant about the problems with BCeID
BCeID is supposed to be a service that makes it easier to request assistance. Yet, registering is a challenge!
One community member went to Literacy Now where an assistant attempted to help the community member register. The first name was showing she was registered but, still unable to enter data. The second day after quite a few attempts to re-register — a phone call. After three calls, and being placed on hold for quite a few minutes brought a “full of attitude” the individual that spoke curtly saying he was the expert and said the individual was not registered, yet we can see the individual’s name on the “register” form and he could not see it. A few minutes of trying to explain this, with more than one attempt to register, he was not able to assist.
BCeID is supposed to be easier to use, yet a simple registration in next to impossible. The BC Social Assistance office is sending clients to Literacy Now, and Cowichan Disability offices to register. Why are they not making it easy for community members to register? Are they falling short of those techie skills? Is their program faulty? And blame it on the client for not doing forms properly, yet not able to actually register!
I feel the community needs to be alerted to the concerns that are out there for those who are not tech savvy! it is discouraging, hard to think of Elders who have no tech skills that are falling short and not receiving the help they need!
