In a recent front page of the Citizen, a young homeless couple who could afford rent, were unable to find accommodation.
I know of a number of people who live alone in a big home, with a basement that would be easily made into a suite. Such suites are plentiful, but illegal, and therefore the people I know will not consider it, even though half the house is unused.
When can council review the situation to make suites legal, and help to relieve both the housing situation, and give extra financial assistance, security, and perhaps help and company, to retired folk still in their own homes?
