Food for thought for the marina/Stirling Field area. An authentic west coast wood village.
Envision a horseshoe-shaped wood building at the marina housing marine retail, ice, a mural and bio of George Clutesi on the side, areas of interactive marine ideas and areas for club activities.
Kiosks depicting our history, culture and tsunami in the area. a new port authority building that juts out to moored berths or utilize shared space.
A roundabout road remains intact. Blast off the rock at the end of launch and put in an extra lane.
First Nations berthing could go to the right of the launch with extra overnight berthing. First Nations seafood marketing along the river.
Stirling ball field, with an easy right turn entrance, is the best “visual” site for another wood structure that accomodates outdoor theatre venues, retail, art demos, a gallery and boutique shopping. Landscape it with leisure areas and floodlight it at night for affect.
Behind the field you could have light camping with trailer parking available behind the new Ford dealership.
Dense residential could convert to home businesses and lend to this “wood west coast village” feel in the area that leads one to the marina, a walking pier along the river, where a charming ultimate fishing town could emerge.
