Christmas, is a good time to sing Amazing Grace for all the people of God.
After all, we all know that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life ( no more problems whatsoever).
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now i am found, was blind but now I see.
T’was grace that taught my heart to fear.
And grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.
Through many, dangers, toils and snares I have already come
Tis grace that brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home.
This hymn was written in the 18th century by John Newton.
He was a former militant atheist and captain of a slave trading ship.
On May 10, 1748, he was in great distress in a storm at sea, and he cried to God for mercy. He was saved.
First of all, he began to treat the slaves more humanely.
A few years later, he gave up his work, became a minister and became involved in the abolition of the slave trade
Are we shipwrecked and in danger today.
