The drop in student numbers in Armstrong and district does make it necessary to close one of the schools, temporarily or permanently.
The brick school, so far possibly earmarked for closure, would certainly be permanent.
I understand to reopen the brick school would not be possible under the present rules because there is not enough land attached to the school. At a meeting a few years ago, it was stated that if the school burned down, that site could not be used for a school because of too little land.
Len Wood school, on the other hand, has sufficient land and could reopen as a school. No doubt in the future, there will be enough students to fill all four schools.
I have not seen any mention of this land problem.
Maybe it’s worth looking into fairly soon.
