The governing body is Friends of Fort Steele Society (non-profit) Heritage Branch of BC. Fort Steele was a gold rush boom town founded in 1864 by John Galbraith. In 1888 it was renamed Fort Steele after legendary Canadian lawman Superintendent Sam Steele of the North-West Mounted Police.
Over the long weekend in August there will be a free self-guided tour of Artisans of the Bulkley Valley, 30 artists, 17 studio spaces, you are invited to view their work: pottery, paintings, jewelry, stained glass, cards, fabric arts, baskets and more. At the Library, Teddy Bear Sleepover, Monday August 12, 6-7 p.m. and Tuesday August 13, 10-10:30 a.m. Bring your favourite stuffie friend to the Library for bedtime stories and a goodnight hug. Come back at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning to reunite with your stuffie and find out what they got up to overnight. No registration required, note that Library staff will be taking photos of all participants and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Want to volunteer? The World Women’s Curling Championship will be held in Prince George, the CN Centre, March 14-22 2020. The 2020 World Women’s Curling Championship will feature 13 teams, including Team Canada. They have begun to seek volunteers for media assistance, set-up and takedown, working in the stands during games and behind the scenes at various checkpoints. A word that I have seen lately: gerrymandering: alter the boundaries of a constituency etc. so as to favour some party or class. Manipulate (a situation etc.) to gain advantage. Interesting, what with elections coming up.
