Re: Cities need to look after arts, Letters, Jan. 8.
The B.C. Community Charter does not dictate municipalities spend money on arts and culture. It states the main purpose is to provide for good government of its community.
Shelling out $4.6 million that council had not budgeted for, did not have a clue where the money would come from and was not even in the five-year plan is hardly a benchmark of a good civic government.
