Dear editor,
I read in the papers that if one didn’t want to have a smart meter installed they had the right to choose not to.
Until I could check out the insurance implications, I chose to put a sign on my meter which read “No new meter until CSA-approved.”
I checked to make sure it was there when I saw the BC Hydro truck in the area. I went out for a while and when I returned I noticed all my clocks were flashing.
I checked the meter box and discovered that BC Hydro had exercised their right to choose.
They chose to remove the sign and leave it on the ground in front of the meter and then they chose to install a new smart meter. I am sure there was nothing wrong with the old meter as BC Hydro had replaced my old mechanical meter with a digital meter (not smart meter) within the past six months.
