Happy Birthday to one lovely lady and caring friend on Jan 25. We sure hope this year – your 60th – will come together like it should. Good luck to a good lady. You deserve so much more that what you receive.

A belated and grateful Bouquet to Jacqui at the Nanaimo News Bulletin for taking my winning tickets to the Celtic Christmas Show home and calling me to ensure that I could attend on the Saturday afternoon. Without doing this – the Bulletin closed for the weekend right after the draw – I would have missed a delightful win.

A big thank you to Shaw Cable for bringing the cricket channel.

a bouquet of forget-me-nots to the management and staff of the Longlake Chateau Retirement Residence from Eva Thompson’s family. They have proved over and over again their dedication, sincerity and commitment to the comfort and well being of their residents. We are thankful that our mother Eva has found such a wonderful community to live in.

A forte ovation to Nanaimo North Town Centre for hosting the Wellington Secondary Band Gift Wrap Service for the seventh year. The parents and students thank you for providing such an awesome storefront.

A HUGE BOUQUET of flowers to Avonlea Dental Clinic. I have never had such a thorough exam and been treated so special. I recommend them to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

An everlasting symphony to London Drugs at Nanaimo North Town Centre and Central Drugs in Beban Plaza for providing gift wrap supplies for the Wellington Secondary Band Gift Wrap Service. We could not have done it without you.

a Bouquet of Third World toiletries to the guy peeing on the sidewalk in front of Value Village while a bus full of international students attending Vancouver Island University passed by. Great show of Canadian manhood. If your bladder is too weak, try estrogen. It’s supposed to fix everything.

The biggest bouquet of wrapped presents to the patrons of the Wellington Secondary Band Gift Wrap Service. Thank you for your continued support.

A BOUQUET OF SILVER STARS to the Nanaimo News Bulletin for the recent front page feature about a young couple, both medical professionals, offering their time and skills to help humanity in Haiti. So positive and inspiring.

A BOUQUET and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. A. Carr for taking such good care of me during surgery and while I was recovering from a ruptured appendix. Nanaimo is very fortunate to have Dr. Carr’s surgical skills. He is professional, kind and completely dedicated to the well being of his patients.

A SPECIAL THANKS to Dr. Finlay and RN Tiffany for their excellent work and compassion delivering our beautiful daughter Alesha over the Christmas holidays.

A HUGE BOUQUET OF RED ROSES to nurse Eva for being so thoughtful, kind and caring. You will be remembered always as my favourite nurse after my December hospital stay.

A HOME OWNER’S THANK YOU to Home Pro Painting and Decorating for making our house look so marvelous. It looks like a new home without having to move. Special thanks to Brent for being so patient and co-operative in regards to my pillars in the front. I love my house.

A BOUQUET OF WARM TOES to the man who shovelled the path all along Chase River School recently. Your time is much appreciated.

A BIG THANK YOU to the kind gentleman who found my bank card and returned it to the bank.

A BIG THANK YOU to whoever cleaned my driveway on the Sunday morning after the snowfall last week at 11 Cilaire Dr. Please give me a call at 250-758-2735 so I can thank you personally.

LOTS OF SUNNY DAYS to Jamie, who lives on the 400 block of Watfield Avenue. Your tireless efforts at keeping our street and driveways cleared of snow this year, and last year also, is more than appreciated.

A beef about the lack of enforcement of the bylaw that requires people to clear their sidewalks after a snowfall. It is the same every snowfall. If the city needs some help handing out tickets or warnings, I will gladly do this for no charge. I walk five miles every day, but when it snows, I am forced to walk on the road.

A big pile o’ beef to a Nanaimo store for assuming I was guilty until proven innocent. I was recently threatened, falsely accused and removed from the premises in a highly embarrassing fashion without incriminating evidence, based on someone’s sketchy recollection of someone else. They did not have any surveillance footage or a method of properly identifying the person they mistook me for.

A Big, Fat Beef to the person who backed into my white truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot. You bashed in the whole lower half panel. The police call this a hit and run. Thanks to Cory the dent man, who was able to get it all out after working on it for over an hour.

a Who’s-afraid-of-the-bogeyman beef to all the people opposed to the building of a hospice close to their homes. People need and should have a place to go to die other than a hospital. It’s part of life.

A BEEF to some reality shows. I’m not dissing the entire genre. Many people enjoy these shows and there are a few good ones out there, but it’s getting ridiculous. Practically anyone who has a pulse can get their own show these days. These people have no talents or skills, they just make a pile of money simply by being. I’ve seen enough reality in real life, thank you.

a beef to the city for not plowing our street. We live by Uplands Elementary School, so you would think we would be one of the first ones, but they never plowed at all.

A BEEF to the City of Nanaimo for forcing us to use an additional black garbage bag to put all the smaller plastic bags into the green box. And 52 more garbage bags per year equals a greener environment?

A BIG BEEF TO THE CITY of Nanaimo for passing the buck on sidewalk clearing of snow. We don’t own it. We pay high taxes. Is the city responsible if a senior has a heart attack doing this?

A back-AT-YOU BEEF to the person who isn’t aware it is everyone’s business how people treat their animals. We are all citizens of the world. We cannot stand by and witness abuse or neglect to any animal. It is far too costly to ignore.

A RUDE, gabby beef to the ladies in my exercise class who cannot stop talking. The place sounds like a chicken coop. Please have consideration for those who are exercising.

A BEEF to the grinches who tampered with the Christmas stocking I use for a decoration on my front door. It wa stolen and vandalized twice before. I hung up the empty stocking this past Christmas and it hung peacefully all December until Christmas Eve, when someone filled it full of coal. I suppose someone thought this was funny, but the weight of the coal pulled the stocking pin out of my door, leaving a mark, and it ruined my stocking.
