BOUQUET To the kind couple for helping when I fell at the entrance to Kiwanis Club and all my kind neighbours, also.

BEEF To all those who hang bicycles on the back of their vehicles obstructing brake lights and turn signals. If you get rear-ended it’s your own fault.

BOUQUET To my darling husband who loves me, no matter what. He is loyal, sweet and hard-working.

BEEF To people throwing lit cigarettes out of their cars. It is against the law. Have you heard of forest fires? Don’t you care about our beautiful Island?

BOUQUET I am well-rested at the North Pole and would like to thank Bob for his amazing Santa pictures at Woodgrove Centre. He makes me look so good.

BEEF To the person backing a white Ford truck out of your driveway all the way across the road. Lucky my daughter pulled me in the ditch – you could have hit me.

BOUQUET To volunteers who helped welcome tourists to our city when the huge cruise ship docked here.

BEEF To arena management. It has been years since I could read the time on the end scoreboard. On May 21, the elevator was roped off and upper washrooms were locked. Not a pleasant place to watch a lacrosse game.

BOUQUET To the residents of my Harewood neighbourhood. You care, you help make a sad lady face each day.

BEEF To the guttering company that arranged to give us a quote for some work and never showed. No phone call and did not return our call.

BOUQUET To all the wonderful people in B.C. who have supported victims of Fort McMurray fire and through donations, prayer and being there. Your love matters.

BEEF To the person complaining about broom being cut down. Broom is not indigenous to the island and therefore chokes out all our natural plants.

BOUQUET To everyone who made the Bowen Park Seniors carpet bowlers’ silent auction a success. Thank you to all the donors in the community, the purchasers and the active participants in the organization.

BEEF To all the drivers who do not know how a four-way stop works. If no one is turning, cars going both opposite ways can go at the same time. Otherwise the one on the right has the right of way.

BOUQUET To Paulina and her staff at 7-Eleven Dover Bay. Every day I’m there for something and every day they are cheerful and polite and go above and beyond to help you out.

BEEF To the nurse at the check-in desk at the emergency room. Your treatment of a visitor wearing a single spritz of perfume was awful. The visitor wiped it off with sanitizer. You would be better placed elsewhere in the hospital if your sensitivities are so severe.

BOUQUET To the two lovely ladies and everyone else who came to our rescue when my husband collapsed crossing Front Street. I’m sorry I didn’t get your names as everything was a blur, but so appreciated.

BEEF On the corner of townsite and Milstone, why would you lay down bark mulch without laying down landscaping fabric? Took fewer than four days for weeds to grow through and now I see a contractor working on a Sunday. What a colossal waste of money.

BOUQUET We live in a wonderful city. Weather wise, good people, good food – what more could one want?

BEEF It is time for the city to remove or top some of these 300-foot trees that are dying on Hammond Bay between Rutherford and Beacon. A disaster waiting to happen.

BOUQUET To the kind person at Central Drugs on Northfield and Bowen. Thank you for paying my bill when I did not have enough to pay for my pills.

BEEF To parks and rec for upgrading the Cable Bay Trail but offering no toilet facilities. Do city decision makers expect people to ‘hold it?’ The stench in the woods says they can’t.

BOUQUET To Kelly at Best Sellers book store on Commercial Street. Your customer service is A-plus and the two Marilyn Monroe books that you found for me were the icing on my birthday cake.

BEEF To the people who pull up to a left-hand turn and leave three spaces in front of them. You should queue up so as many vehicles can fit in that section without congestion as possible.

BOUQUET To the advertising department for its courtesy and kindness in helping me place our ad for our spring tea.

BEEF To the beefer complaining about cutting down broom. Learn the difference between invasive species and allergies. Broom is destroying our ecosystem, threatening our diversity of plants and wildlife habitat.

BOUQUET To NDS Flooring for coming to our rescue and making our floor look fantastic. Kudos to Norm, Maryanne, Michael, Farimer and Michael Jr. Prompt, efficient, caring and all-around fantastic.

BEEF To those non-residents who deceitfully claim the Home Owner Grant on their property taxes. I hope you are all fined the maximum $10,000, then this money can go back to our province where it belongs.

BOUQUET To Rutherford Elementary School for hosting the Seashore Program presented by the Canadian Federation of University Women Nanaimo. Thanks for the use of your classroom.

BEEF To the dog owners who did not pick up their own dog’s poop right on my driveway on three separate occasions. You know who you are – totally irresponsible.

BOUQUET To the lovely nurse with the accent that helped me with my ears. Her bedside manner was fantastic and her gentle, caring ways made me feel relaxed and calm. The other nurse that was on duty with her was wonderful as well.

BEEF To Microsoft. Windows 10 is capable of downloading onto your computer even though you don’t want it. If you do not reject Windows 10 when the small window asking if you want it installed is left open, it assumes that the answer is yes.

BOUQUET To Ray in the meat department at Country Grocer for his excellent customer service. Your kindness and generosity was very much appreciated.
