Staff working there were all very helpful, friendly and hard-working and we absolutely love coming there because of you.
BEEF To the irresponsible parent in the store who thought it was OK for their 12-year-old to play in the produce products and when confronted said, ‘oh come on, he’s only 12.’ Be responsible, teach your child. People like you spread the virus.

BEEF To those in Departure Bay using their wood fireplace to heat their home when the air quality is at a 10-plus meaning it is dangerous for anyone to breathe. Have some consideration for others, not only when the air quality is poor. Wood fireplaces should be a thing of the past.

BEEF Great that customers can pick up furniture orders at a Nanaimo collection point for a flat rate. But here’s the beef: returns must be taken to a store. No exceptions, and no return timing window despite risk of travel during a pandemic. Would cost me more than the $40 item value to travel to the Vancouver store. No more orders for me.
BOUQUET Thank you to the eagle-eyed, kind-hearted person who spotted and turned in my lost little hearing aid near London Drugs. It must have escaped when I fiddled with my mask.
BEEF To the deck and railing company. I called and asked him for a quote work on my sundeck. He said I would have to take a picture and send him by e-mail. I told him I am a senior and do not know how to do pictures on the computer. He then asked me if I could turn on my washing machine. It was insulting, rude and demeaning. They have lost my business and my respect.

BEEF To the beefer name-calling people not wearing masks. You have no idea what their situation is, so character assassination is wildly misplaced. There are many reasons that one might be unable to wear a face covering, mandate or not, so don’t judge so harshly what you don’t know.

BEEF To the hair salon. There is no wiping down of chairs, gowns, or stations between clients, no wiping down of the debit machines after use, and no hand-washing between clients. I have been coming to your salon for years and after what I saw, or didn’t see I won’t be returning.
BOUQUET To the office staff at NDSS. They have put in tireless hours and e-mails to support kids and staff. I hope they know how much school families appreciate their hard work. Please everyone be kind to school staff, administrators, and teachers. They are going through what many workplaces went through at the start of COVID. Running a semi-regular program with new guidelines and safety is stressful. Everyone is doing the best they can.
BEEF To the general public who believe any government had the best interests of it citizens at heart. So many countless examples to the contrary.
BOUQUET Thank you to the blue/purple haired lady at 7-11 who saw me tell the cashier I’d forgotten my debit card at home. I was so embarrassed and started putting all my items back. Then she stepped in and quietly asked the cashier not to cancel my sale as she would get it for me. I asked if I can pay her back; she just smiled, said, “No worries bud, just pay it forward,” and left.
BEEF As winter approaches, everyone should check all the lights on their cars and trucks. We have counted hundreds of cars and trucks with burned-out lights, front and back.
BOUQUET When I was walking home from work, I saw a guy digging in the dumpsters. A woman came out of the building in her pyjamas, asked if he’s hungry, then gave him a bunch of food. It looked like they had a pleasant little chat before she wished him well and headed back in. It warmed my heart to see some nice selfless deeds, especially during this awful pandemic.
BEEF Ride hailing, ride sharing – it doesn’t matter what you call it, it is still a taxi service and should be regulated as such.

BEEF No, Dover Road is not a raceway, though it sometimes appears that way. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, noisy transportation of all kinds. Thanks to all the responsible drivers who take care. School is back, kids are on the roads, people are dog walking. Please keep our roads safe for all.
BOUQUET To the Nanaimo RCMP. Our police are out in the city every day trying to make a difference, uphold the law, and do a great job. They work long hours and just showing up for work put their life in danger. I would like to thank one officer in particular as I had a lack of judgment while driving and ran through a red light. To my surprise I was let off with a warning and it really made my day.

BOUQUET To all the nurses at the palliative care unit at NRGH. They are super angels. Their caring and compassion extend to the loved ones visiting at all times day and night. BOUQUET To a lady at PetSmart who was a customer like us. She showed up earlier than us to purchase a guinea pig, but was so nice to let my son choose first. There were only three available, and my son was waiting for this day for two months. Thank you very much for your kindness.
BEEF To the teachers for not having a plan for COVID; they had months to figure it out. RCMP, firefighters, grocery stores, mail service and many more did not stop. Why did the teachers union not have a plan before school started?

BEEF To the government B.C. Cannabis Stores open or opening in Nanaimo. During a time of a pandemic and the poor financial status of our government, now is not a good time to be spending taxpayer dollars on money-losing government cannabis stores. There are enough private retailers in Nanaimo.

BEEF To politicians and judges for not giving the men and woman in blue the necessary means to clean up streets. They are quite familiar with these repeat criminals and do arrest them but let them walk out on the streets in less than 24 hours is really hurting the middle class and must affect the mindset of our police officers. I can’t imagine their frustration.
