The so-called efforts to clean up the sunken tugboat from Bella Bella are appalling. Kudos to the First Nations who where able to get into action immediately.
Until we have a fully equipped crew and equipment available to get to the problem area immediately, put all efforts into removing the ship and containing the oil within hours of the incident, we should not even consider shipping dangerous goods on our coastlines. When a vessel goes into the water, you need to remove it immediately; so eliminating the catastrophe that has happened with this latest incident off our North Coast.
Shame on our provincial government for not getting immediate results for this tragic accident.
I am thoroughly disappointed with our provincial governments clean-up efforts; and I will support all efforts to ban tankers on our pristine coast for the future of all Canadians.
