Bike cameras

Resident sends a warning to motorists about cyclists on the road

What some drivers might not be aware of is that more and more cyclists are riding with video cameras.

These cameras are sometimes on helmets or handle bars but others are rear-facing and look like a bike light.

These rear-facing cameras have amazing clarity and the video is easily paused so the viewer can zoom in on licence plates.

I know of one situation locally where this was used to identify a vehicle that came in contact with a rider.

These cameras are reasonably priced and will become more common.

One would hope that a cyclist would never have to rely on the video for information, but drivers are not always willing to stop and a few seconds of video could make the difference.

So, to the drivers who think it will be hilarious to douse us with Slurpee or that six inches is enough room between their vehicle and our bike, or that any other road rage is acceptable, is that a blinking tail light or is it a high definition video camera recording your actions and identifying your vehicle?
