To the editor:
I have lived in the Black Mountain area (Lund, Begley, Jayson Road, etc.) for 25+ years and we have always had some sort of a bus system.
I do not understand why it is being cancelled completely as of Sept. 1, 2013.
I have contacted city hall and the transit system here, only to be pushed off to Victoria.
Still no answers.
Why? There are students and adults both that have become dependent on this system and now are going to have to walk down out of the subdivision to Black Mountain Drive to catch a bus.
On returning there are no sidewalks to walk on for most of the subdivision and a long flight of stairs that are not lit at night.
In this time of heightened awareness to be eco-friendly it seems like this closure is taking a huge step backwards.
