On Monday, Feb. 28 the City of Williams Lake announced that it would hold a public meeting with regard to its 2011 budget on March 10 at 6 p.m.

I take umbrage  with this decision to hold the budget meeting at this time. Having recently discussed this issue with CRD Area H Director Art Dumaresq with the few people showing up at his Town Hall meeting, also at 6 p.m., Williams Lake Council will do well to hold the meeting at a time that is appropriate and convenient for most people  — both in the city and for our rural partners just outside Williams Lake.

If Williams Lake council thinks that this is a great 2011 budget, it will not hesitate in the least to change the meeting time from 6 to 7 p.m.

Failure to do so will cause myself to ask: are  taxpayers “partners” with Williams Lake Council or just simply “peasants” whose only job is to pay the bills, no matter what?
