Cable barrier credited with saving life

I wish to thank whomever is worthy for installing those barriers, for potentially saving the life of the other driver, my wife and myself.

I want to first apologize for ever underestimating the effectiveness of the multi-cable barrier that separates traffic on Highway 1, just west of Prest Rd.

Last Sunday night my wife and I were again driving back to our home in Kelowna when I saw headlights swerving towards us from a vehicle travelling westbound. Before I could slow down or even hit the ditch we saw debris and sparks from the opposing truck as he skidded along the cable barrier for several hundred feet, destroying the truck and barrier along the way.

I wish to thank whomever is worthy for installing those barriers, for potentially saving the life of the other driver, my wife and myself.

Although they might look impractical or under-built, if you will, we are thankful for the investment the province has taken for public safety and we can now assure you that those seemingly feeble cables can and do indeed save lives. Thank you.
