Campaign garners support

The South Okanagan Chapter for Muscular Dystrophy held its annual Shamrock fundraiser, raising $1,647

Last month, the South Okanagan Chapter for Muscular Dystrophy held its annual Shamrock fundraiser. From the generosity of people who supported our ‘Give a Buck for Luck’ and ‘St. Patrick’s Day Button’ campaigns, we raised $1,647.

Funds from this annual event go toward assisting those living with neuromuscular disease through mobility devices, equipment and research.

Over 50,000 Canadians are affected by neuromuscular disorders (muscular dystrophy), which is a disease that can strike at ay age and causes wasting and progressive weakness of the muscles that control body movement, and depending on the severity can be fatal. Researches are actively working on finding effective therapies.

On behalf of the South Okanagan chapter, thank you so very much to everyone who helped us get closer to the day when neuromuscular disease no longer has the power to rob us of our mobility.
